The mallard is a dabbling duck, which is found in the Americas, Eurosiberia, and North Africa.

The average lifespan of this duck is around 5 – 10 years.
Average weight of mallard duck is around 0.72 – 1.6 kg.
Mallard ducks are one of  the highest flying birds. They can fly with the speed of 40-60 miles per hour.
Mallard ducks prefer calm and shallow sanctuaries.
Mallard doesn’t feed their brood, because they are capable of finding their own food.
Nickname for the male mallard is “Greenhead.” and nickname for the female mallard is “Suzy.”
Males move away from female ducks to join other males for molting, after the mating season.
A group of mallard duck is called as “brood.”
Mallard eats aquatic vegetation, insects, worms, wheat and corn.
Mallards are the ancestor of almost all domestic ducks.
Mallard sleeps at night while floating in the water or resting on land.
